Chin and Jawline Sculpting

CHIN AND JAWLINE FILLER Treatment

Chin and jawline sculpting consists of using dermal filler products to elongate the chin (to achieve better facial proportions), to achieve an aesthetically pleasing projection of the chin, to feminise the chin which results in the narrowing and more heart-shaped facial profile, in males masculinisation of the chin could lead to achieving a wider, more defined chin, injections in the chin to decreases the crease to reduce the appearance of a witch’s chin or injections of the pre-jowl sulci to reduce the hollowing of either side of the chin to achieve a smoother jawline. Dermal fillers work by re-shaping the chin and surrounding areas to achieve better shape, proportions and definition.

As we age, our facial profile loses definition along the jawline resulting in the formation of jowls. This is caused due to the natural loss of elasticity and collagen of the skin and connective tissue. In order to correct and improve this jawline appearance, there are a number of treatments that could be considered to treat this area including dermal fillers, Botox and fat-dissolving treatment. Dermal fillers can be injected to re-shape the skin along the jawline and chin to achieve an aesthetically pleasing definition to the underlying bone structure.

To treat the chin and jawline creating a youthful appearance, a range of dermal fillers which have different densities could be used for your treatment. All of the dermal fillers we use contain a local anaesthetic gel which minimises discomfort. The treatment results are immediate, and results can last up to 6 to 15 months depending on the dermal filler injected.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The rule of facial thirds includes the projection of the chin and horizontal proportions. Regarding chin projection the aesthetic profile requires the chin to touch an imaginary line drawn from the tip of the nose to the lip border, then the chin has an adequate projection. This provides you with a perfect side profile. In regards to the horizontal proportion, the face is divided into three horizontal proportions at ratios of 1:1:1. A small face is prized amongst females.

Volume loss in the chin and jawline could be due to a number of reasons including:

• Volume loss of skin integrity in general.
• Slippage of the malar fat pad (more common in long-distance runners).
• Increased skin laxity due to age and photodamage.
• Rapid or significant weight loss (commonly after gastric bypass)
• Any serious disease or medical condition.
